STORY WRITING
Writing a story based on a given outline or cue/s. (word limit 100-120 words)
A story always has a HEADING.
The Heading/Title must grab one’s attention.
It must be short and concise.
It must be related to the story.
Use literary devices to make the title interesting. ( Alliteration, Onomatopoeia)
Write the heading in an appropriate way.
It should not have a full stop. The first word should be capitalized. Capitalize the first word, the last word, and all principal words, The following parts of speech are not capitalized when they are in the middle of a title:
Articles (a, an, the)
Prepositions (e.g., against, as, between, in, of, to):
Coordinating conjunctions (and, but, for, nor, or so, yet)
The to in infinitives
Before you write your story, you must think about
The setting
The Characters
The plot
The story must have a beginning, middle, and end.
The Plot of your story must have
Introduction: Describe the characters and setting.
Conflict: What is the conflict, difference in ideas.
Climax: The part of the story where the excitement is pushed to
its limits.
Resolution or the point where the conflict is resolved
Before you write your story, you must think about
The setting

The plot
Language and vocabulary
You must use at least one literary device in each paragraph.
Use verbs and adverbs.
Use adjectives to describe the setting, situation and the physical appearance, and personality traits.
Avoid repeated use of very, and, then and so.
Use Past Tense (Simple Past Tense, Past Perfect, Past Continuous )
Use Direct Speech also.
Use a variety of Reporting verbs. Don’t overuse the word ‘Said’.
Use Discourse Markers: firstly, secondly, in addition to, to begin with, on the other hand, etc.
Avoid making spelling mistakes.
Write the story in paragraphs.
Read the story and edit it.
Read short stories so that you can write well.
Write the given stories
Develop a story in about 100 -120 words with the following ending. Give a suitable title:
Thank God I found my Science Journal before the last date of submission.
